Otter Creek/Paiute State parks not to be closed.

I recieved an email from Fred Christensen this morning, stating that the Board of Parks and Recreation voted unanimously, last night, not to close either Otter Creek or Piute State Parks. Thanks in large part to the efforts of OHVers from Piute and Emery Counties. Both will remain open as State Parks.  Millsite State Park will remain open as well.  Division administration also withdrew their recomendation that the OHV/Boating Ranger position at Pineview/Monte Cristo be eliminated.  That made for a triple play win for OHVers.
Everyone who stood shoulder to shoulder against the closer of Otter Creek and Piute State Parks, by writing letters and talking to their reps. all deserve a handshake and a pat on their backs.  It just goes to show that we can make a difference, keep it up.  Wink

Smiley  Hey ain't that great.  Thanks to all those who took the time to make calls, write letters, and attend meetings.  It just goes to show that the world is indeed run by those who show up.  Thanks to all for showing up.

The real question is this: How do we keep them off the chopping block?

It seems to me that someone picked them for closure and "they" will not hesitate to serve them up again.

I think we need to find a way to get the state to make improvements and increase use of both of these parks.
