#47 - Chief Wakara Excursion (Richfield)

This 85 mile ride will take you along some of the same trails that were traveled by the famous horse thief Chief Wakara. We will begin in Richfield and go west to the top of the Pahvant Mountain range on the main Paiute trail, then north along the skyline to Willow Creek Canyon and Robins Valley, with some spectacular views of both Sevier and Millard counties from this 9,000 foot pine and aspen forest. We will proceed to Coffee Peak where we will stop for lunch before returning to the main Paiute trail and heading down the north end of the Pahvant Mountain Range to about 1 mile south-west of Aurora. Then we will head south along the Sevier Canal to Richfield City Park. This ride will take you into deer and elk country so keep your eyes open. You will want to bring your lunch, camera, and extra gasoline. Due to the length of this ride, it is rated for "Advanced" riders. (NOTE: This ride is much the same as #32 with the addition of a 35 mile side trip to Coffee Peak at the end of Robins Valley)
