Just wanted to introduce myself. I been ridin' for about 8 years now. I live up in Northern Utah so really miss going South a lot. Been there many times though. I'm just wanting to get in more riding again. I kinda slacked off and boy did I go through withdrawals. Lookin' forward to the conversations and the information. Remember that it's always time to ride. Thanks for your time.

Come on down we don't bite and the trails are a blast!.

Hey watch ATV Television in January on the Outdoor Channel and you just might see yours truly guiding and tellin trail stories with Doug Meyers.
That is if the camera survived and they got the footage to develop

Forum Admin...thanks for the invite to the South. Actually, I've been down on the Piute for about the last five years staying at either Circleville or Marysvale. Normally in August or September a group of us will go down for 4 days or so and ride all we can. Then the rest of the year we all try to get out at least 1 a month, but I nessed up in 2005. Only rode about 3 times all year. Oooooh, did I really say that!! What in the world is wrong with me. Anyway, great, great trails and beautiful scenery. I'll definitely check for you on future TV series, and look forward to getting back in the saddle more often. Had a good ride this last weekend out in the west desert.

Hey QS......"Stuck" is not a bad thing in this case. Wink

It's the word I use for wanting to be at more than one place at the same time. I'm looking forward, very much, to the ride on the Highline, but I'd also love to join Frank B. riding the Piaute. Sometimes I use that word on my wife too, when she's got a list of honey do's, and I want to ride. "Oh sweetie, I'd love to help, but I'm stuck with having to ride that weekend." Huh

Know what I mean?

But in this case I have two great opportunities to ride and I can't do both. I'm stuck.

Mmmmmmm....I'm still in trouble huh? Grin

Perhaps the most famous three words uttered in literature, "Et tu, Brute?" (Even you, Brutus?) this expression has come down in history to mean the ultimate betrayal by one's closest friend. The scene, in which the conspirators in the Senate assassinate Caesar, is one of the most dramatic moments on the Shakespearean stage. The audience has just witnessed the arrogance and hubris of a ruler who has sought, within a republic, to become a monarch, comparing himself to the gods. Brutus, a friend of Caesar and yet a man who loves Rome (and freedom) more, has joined the conspirators in the assassination, a betrayal which is captured by the three words above.

BUT, before you get too upset at my Brutus comparison, remember this line.

"This was the noblest Roman of them all."

In the final scene of Julius Caesar, Antony sums up the character of Brutus. Brutus was "the noblest Roman of them all," the only one of the conspirators who killed Caesar out of love of Rome and the republic, not for personal reasons. Brutus has fallen upon the sword after a lost battle between his forces and those of Antony and Octavius. Brutus had from the start been hesitant to join the conspirators who sought to remove the dictator Caesar from power. Once convinced that the republic was in danger of being ruled by a self-proclaimed monarch, he joined in the conspiracy against his friend, which occurred on the ides of March. Antony eulogies his former opponent, "This was the noblest Roman of them all./ All the conspirators save only he/ Did that they did in envy of great Caesar;/ He, only in a general honest thought/ And common good to all, made one of them."

I think I got it. Thanks for the explanation. Honestly, I had to get my daughter who has graduated from college, with a degree in English, to explain that to me. She lovesssss that stuff.

And here I thought I was right on with the Italian thing. I thought "et tu" in Italian meant something like "I'm with you" or "me too". Mmmmmmmm.

You know, sometimes you just need to laugh out loud at yourself. Grin

Julius Caesar said this to his trusted confidant Brutus as he was being stabbed by him. It expressed Caesar's surprise, disappointment, and sadness at discovering that his friend was among his betrayers. "Et tu Brute?" No, my daughter didn't write this cause she really in CANCUN having a great time with her hubby!

I don't know a lot about "Et Tu" but I can sure relate to your term of being "stuck" and wanting to be 2 places at the same time. That is exactly how I feel, "stuck" about the "Big Ride" and another trip I have scheduled at the same time. I want to do them both! I also have to attend a wedding in September and you know how many great Jamboree's are going on at that time. I just told my wife, if somebody has a wedding next September, I am going to shoot them......LOL! Grin

Thanks a lot!! I'll have to determine how the logistics of that will work for me. I say that because on Saturday, I have an all day ride with some BTRA Club folks on the Highline up north, so I wouldn't be able to leave for Marysvale until late Saturday, or depending on what time you ride, if I would be able to catch you by leaving early Sunday AM. It takes about 3-3.5 hours to get there.
Anyway, thanks so much for the invite, and I'll be sure and let you know.
