Polaris ATV (like 4x golf cart)

Hi,
For all who replied to my question, thank you. I guess I did not make myself to clear. We have a Polaris 4x that looks like a golf cart on steriods with a small bed in the back, bench seat in front. We were wondering about the rides and if this thing can go on most of them or are the rides geared for quads? We are relly looking forward to the Jamboree!
Thanks,
Nancy

we met an older gentleman at Moab driving a Polaris Ranger (like yours?). he was doing a great job on the trails where we were at that day (7 Mile Rim/M&M trail). he diddn't need any help and he did not need to detour the hard sections. the width may be a factor on some trails, tho...

Nancy:
Most of the rides you will be okay on, however there are some that travels on trails with width restrictions on.  There are gates that are set at, I think 52", One that comes to mind is the Kimberly Ride.  If the snow melt is not like it was last year there is a alternate route that will get you to the same place within about the same driving time.  Last year the stream crossings were quite high and some routes were not passable.  I haven't heard what the conditions are this year yet.  The reason the width restrictions are in place is the trails were built at accomodate a quad that is 48" or less.  There are trails that make sharp turns to switch back to gain or loose elevation with limited distance to accomplish it.  White Sage out of Fillmore would be another one that not be passable to the Ranger.  There are plenty of rides that you can enjoy though.

One simple rule of thumb on the Paiute ATV Trail system is to look at the official Multimedia file viewing and clickable links are available for registered members only!!  You need to Login or Register!!
.  If you see a section marked in black it is most likely off limits to the side by side machines like the Polaris Ranger, Kawasaki Mule etc... This is usually because the sections are too narrow or the switch backs too tight to maneuver the wider machine as Pullerguy noted. There are a couple exceptions but this simple rule of thumb will help you plan your routes better. There are almost always an alternative route with but a couple of exceptions (isn't there always an exception?).

I think Pullerguy covered the rides for the National Jamboree.

For those others with side by side machines, you will still find more to ride than your vacation time allows or your butt can stand to ride so don't worry about missing a few narrow sections.
