Volunteers Needed for Easter Weekend

The BLM is looking for volunteers to help in the San Rafael Swell area on Easter weekend April 7 (and 8th maybe?). �

Bill Alison with the BLM is asking for volunteers to be assigned certain areas of the Swell to ride and watch for abuse and be a show of support for the ATV community. �
They will be supplying maps and info to hand out to those who may want it on the trails. �It's a big weekend for travel in the area and the BLM is getting a lot of pressure from SUWA that the ATV community doesn't do anything to police itself.
This is a great project for those of you who are part of the Trail Patrol but is not limited to Trail Patrol members. �So if you are looking for something to do on Easter weekend this would be a great way to help our sport.

We have been looking at going down there this spring to explore. But we have never been there. Is this something we could do while we explore the area?

They might have it again this year, but what you have been reading is for last year. If they do it again, you won't need to have been there before, but a good knowledge of map reading and a gps would be a good idea. We did it last year and had a blast without ever riden the area. We have been back a few times since. Nice ride!

All,
Once again we will be doing a Trail Patrol project on the Swell on the Easter weekend. There are many of the Trail Patrol members that will be involved with the Easter Jeep Safari. THANKS you do a fantastic job and represent the Trail Patrol well. For those that will be available to patrol the Swell on Easter weekend, please let me know that you will be coming, so I can watch for you. We will meet between 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday morning at Gilly�s in Ferron. The areas that we will patrol are, Devils racetrack, Fixit pass, Buckhorn wash/Cottonwood Draw. Tidwell Draw/Calf Mesa, Black Dragon, and the Poker Ride Trail. You can e-mail me or call me to let me know you are coming. If you need to meet some place different let me know. We will be giving out information, picking up garbage, and being the eyes for the county and BLM as to where any maintenance needs to be done. We may have some small project to help Bill Allenson with. Last year we fixed a few signs and picked up very little garbage. Some of you may have been ask to help through your clubs in other areas of the swell, please go with your club, there are a few clubs that are working with Bill to man booths and information trailers and patrol south of I-70.
I know that some of the other clubs may be doing projects in their areas this weekend. If we get 10 to 20 people, that will be great.
