BRP Renegade 800

Well, I got excited every time I saw it in the showroom all year.  Last week, when the dealer lowered the price for an end of the season blowout, I just couldn't resist.

I've been riding for a week now.  I just love it.  It handles trails as well as any quad I've ridden.

The Good - Fast, really fast.  Rides nice.  Alot of fun to ride.

The Bad - May be too fast Wink   My wife has to carry all my stuff on her quad Rolling on floor laughing

The Ugly -  O.K.  So she is overweight, and maybe a bit homely.  But I've had relationships like that before. Rolling on floor laughing Rolling on floor laughing Rolling on floor laughing

When I was down at  the Tri State Jam this year there was one on display . The salesman told me that he would have some racks made if I would buy it . He also said that racks would be available in '08 . A "pop off" version would  be best for me . The racks and the price ( ouch )  kept me away . It sure looks like alot of fun . Hope you have a blast !

I got my Renegade back in March, with a promise from the dealer that racks would be available in 2 months. It's August now and I'm still packing my crap around in a backpack. I love the Renegade but I'll love it even more when I get a rack on the back of it.

BTW, did you guys get the 3 year warranty? I bought mine before that program went into effect but they gave me the extended warranty when it came out. Just got my warranty cards a few weeks ago in fact.

It's an awesome machine but the crummy little cargo carrier is barely big enough to carry your lunch.

Still enjoyin mine.  Got Ricochet skid plates the other day but haven't had time to put them on yet.  Looks like Can Am doesn't have a rack yet, but they are supposed to have some sort of bag that they'll sell that attaches to the back so carry some stuff.  I've seen some after market racks available, but everything so far seems alittle big and bulky with alot of modification necessary, that would make it real permanent.  In my mind it will kind of defeat the purpose of the quad.  I think I'll wait awhile.

So far I'm happy with the wife carrying all my stuff Wink

CAN AM just came out with their rack for the Renegade. I don't like the looks of it. Too small for me. I sent for the one from PRM and just got it yesterday. I'll put it on tomorrow. Here's some links to the pictures of both. The PRM isn't as big as one you would put on an Outlander, it's about 26 inches wide. I'll send a picture after I get it put on.

Your right.  I just saw the CanAm 08 catalog this morning and ran down and ordered the rack.  I kind of like the idea, not too big, not too small (I hope).  I'll let ya know.  Also ordered some Uni filters and a pre filter cover to try.

Well, it's been a while but I got the rack for the Renegade. It's working out great. I found a cargo bag for it that fits perfectly. The rack and the bag are just the right size, somewhat smaller than what you'd put on a straight utility quad but big enough to get plenty of stuff in.

Moab,

Looks great, just wondering if you're happy with the setup after getting to use it for a bit now?  I'm picking up my 'Gade as soon as I get back from this tour in the sandbox in March, and I've decided to go with the PRM rack like yours.  Did you have trouble finding that American Trails bag that fit it, or was it readily available?  Could you tell me where you got it or what model # it is?  I have an AT setup on one of my sons' quads, and I really like it.  Thanks!

Sorry Hambone, I haven't been on here in a while. To answer your question, I really like my setup. I didn't want a huge bag on the bike, but the one Can Am sells for the Renegade is so small as to be useless. Mine carries most of the stuff I want and what won't fit I put on my wifes rig. I'm not positive but I think I got the bag from Lizzie and Charlies. I'm not sure of the model but it fits on the rack like it was made for it.
You might want to consider putting a steering stabilizer on the Renegade, I got one and it made a world of difference.

I put the BRP rack on and it has worked fine for me.  I usually dont carry anything on it.  But it will hold a little bit of stuff if I need it.  I have carried a small gas can, a small ice chest, or just a jacket when I need it.

This week I put paddles on my Renegade and I am heading out to try it at the dunes.

For anyone who cares, I tried the Renegade with paddles at the dunes.  Crazy fast, lots of power, even works better in 4x4.  But, way too heavy.  You gotta get used to all the weight pulling you where the quad wants to go.  Still, it was a fun experiment.
