No more Joe Lott Trail

I knew this topic would get your attention since the trail up Dry Creek many of you refer to as the Joe Lott.

At the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) convention last Thursday in Houston, Texas, accolades were presented to oleranger.

The section of trail from Fremont Indian State Park up through Dry Creek to the junction of the Kimberly road has formally been renamed the Max Reid Trail.

Max was very instrumental in the parterships that were developed between agencies, communities, counties and users to make the Paiute Trail system what it is today.  It is fitting that he now has a trail named after him.  You can now call this trail the Max Reid instead of Joe Lott which it wasn't named anyway.

If you happen to see Max out on the trails this summer sake his hand and tell him thank you for helping to provide you with some great places to ride.

Congratulations ye oleranger!

Wow! That's great. Congratulations and thank-you for your service Max (oleranger).

Where's the signage placed? I can't quite place the location where that marker is photographed at.

That is at the Fremont Indian Trailhead and is just as you leave the TH to head up through Dry Creek. It looks like they added the Max Reid sign to the post that was there with the Trail 01 sign on it and also placed the new large Max Reid sign and story beside it.

Below is the "Before" picture.

Congratulations Max.

Actually, isn't the Joe Lott trail the non-motorized trail that splits to the left in the picture below and goes down to Castle Rock CG while the 01 Trail continues to the right and down into the switchbacks?

Thats AWESOME!  I can't think of anyone more deserving of having one of the best sections of the Paiute Trail named after him.

Congratulations Max

Let me tell you that there was one Ole Ranger in Houston Texas, last Thursday night that was at a total loss for words.  Never in my life, have I had such a lump in my throat, a tear in my eye, and fighting to keep my emotions somewhat in check.

Those who know me know, that I'm never at a loss for words.  Never... but I was that night... I just couldn't believe it.....

I don't know exactly who all is responsible for doing this, but I'm working to find out.   I know ATV Manager had a big hand it along with Stan Adams and folks from around the Fishlake National Forest and beyond.  I know the Paiute Trail Committee, the Southern Utah OHV Club, Mike Browning, Gary Keller at RockArt signs, Bob Hanover at Fremont Indian State Park were just a few, along with folks at NOHVCC.
My goal is to find the name of every last one....  not to get even.... but to say thank you.

I will get a photo at the trailhead as soon as I can and get it posted.

I'm still floating on cloud nine.   I can't begin to express how very honored and greatful I am....

Guess I better volunteer to be a tail host on this one.... don't want no litter along the Max Reid (aka Dry Creek and for some Joe Lott trail)

Thanks to you all... see ya on the trail.... real soon.

Oleranger,
It is all of us that need to thank YOU for your service and dedication.
What an honor it is to be associated with a man that over the years has given so much and expected so little in return Smiley Smiley
Thanks for everything and hope to meet you in person some day to shake your hand
