Okay guys & gals, we're up and running.
So, let's see some registrations start coming in.
We are working hard to get the 2010 Jamboree organized, so it will be better than last years.
We are making a few changes, but nothing major.
We guarantee you will enjoy the event.

Thanks

Dry Dock Camping will be held in the same area as last year, next to the restrooms.
As we are sharing the Washington County Regional Park with the Horse Ropers Association again this year.

Going to try to come back down from Tooele again.  Hopefully the ATV will not fall apart again!

On the dry camping, is there any way I can get by an electrical outlet.   I have sleep apena and need to use a cpap machine at night.  I will be bringing my Jumping Jack pop up tent (and a s small 4 x 6 trailer for trailheads).

I survived the winds last year.  Looking forward to a rematch this year.

Dennis

NO electrical outlets.
Easiest way to solve your problem is to use a power inverter plug it into a power port in your pickup or other vehicle run a ext cord into your trailer, 150 watt works fine. Should not run your battery down. I know I am a fellow cpap user. I came up with this idea so I didn't have to run the generator all night. I have a 3rd battery in my trailer and attached a larger Inverter to it and can run the cpap off them. I will recharge the batterys when I run the generator during the day as to not bother the light sleepers at night. Good luck. I you need to borrow one look me up I have an extra one in my truck for emergencys.

We were to the Jamboree for the first time last year and had a wonderful 3 day experience.  Our last day's ride included just us and our two guides so we had a more or less personally guided tour.  We stayed in Hurricane last year but are thinking of dry camping at the Fair Grounds this year.  We were wondering  help me if there is any WiFi available there?

No WIFI Hotspots at the fairgrounds last year. I used my integrated Broadband. If I go this year, I'd be happy to broadcast a bit of WiFi for those around me dry camping at the fair grounds.

So, who all is going this year?

I've filled out my paperwork, but haven't yet sent in. I'd prefer to partner up this year, rather than go solo (as I did last year).

The Mrs got her days off for the Jamboree verified today so we'll be sending in our registration by the end of the week.

We are avid geocachers and are wondering if there are any trails that would lend themselves to this particular area of interest or if there are any fellow geocachers planning on attending the event?

I'm a geocacher. Didn't pursue or hide any last year -- until I was en route home and stopped on the 74 Trail and plowed snow for a few hours.

We managed to get 7 caches while riding the trails on the Jamboree last year.  However, since the majority of the other riders weren't into geocaching, we didn't want to slow down the groups we were with to cache.  We are hoping that we can maybe get together with other cachers this year and have more time to cache while on the Jamboree rides.  Any thoughts?

IMO, geocaching directly during the Jam ride can be a significant delay in the estimated ride's completion time. Doing this stuff can screw up the ride's leaders and mess up their time schedule for the ride's completion. I feel that doing that is not desirable and should not be permitted during the Jam's rides. They can make significant delays in ride's completions and the time of day that they are targeted to be completed. It also can reduce sufficient time for riders to transport back to headquarters from the various starting/ending trailheads in order to attend events that are scheduled later after the rides are supposedly completed.

Geocaching is not a bad activity but just needs to be done when time during a scheduled event allows.

Sorry to ruffle any feathers.  All I was suggesting was that a group of geocachers could sign up for a trail ride with the understanding that caching "stuff" be part of the ride.  I was not under the impression that the two were incompatible.

OldWyo: You'll find that some on this board are easily ruffled (myself occasionally included).  Roll Eyes

If I attend the Jam. this year, I'd have no objection with going out with a group intent on finding caches. We should probably separate this group from any organized Jam. rides though.

I don't think Dick C meant to offend anyone. I believe he was just pointing out that the organized rides are carefully planned to make the most of the day and trail they are on and any delays would put soap in the soup. I geocache on occasion and know that it can be time consuming. I also feel that it is a best enjoyed as a solo effort. Whats the fun of 20 people all heading to the same spot?

I think that I can see every ones point . Dick is right .  A ride leader can't take 20 or so people  out , be responsible for them , and keep any kind of order to the day .

That being said , I wouldn't mind going out  caching  but it would be after the days  organized ride  or on a day before the organized rides start . I know that usually there  is a lot of time in the afternoons to visit  with folks or checkout the vendors booths . That would be a great time to go . But then when would you visit ?  Grin

I'm all signed up for the year, even have the week off approved already! I will be dry camping at the Fairgrounds.

Any idea on the total number of folks signed up already? It sounds like some new trails may be in the offerings if the BLM approves. This should be another fantastic Jam with tons o fun!!

Shocked
I found a Maverick or Flying J nearby with a shower for rent.  After a couple of days of stress (Boy was I stressed last year) I thought that the money spent was well worth while. I guess those around me appreciated the effort spent to locate this shower. Rolling on floor laughing

Thanks Dennis,
I have not decided if I will travel with just my van and go lite and save some fuel. the other option is bring the toybox trailer....travel a bit slower use a bit more fuel.....and of course have a toilet, shower, generator, heater, micro, queen bed, nice couch, room to walk around, aaaa I think I just made my decision Grin

Zions Gate RV has changed owners and I have him checking into the possibilites of using the showers or dump station.
Rick said he would get back to me as soon as he clears it with the Homeowners Assocation that they are run by.

We received our conformation and are #'s 143 & 144 Smiley.  We decided to stay at the Willow Wind RV Park like last year instead of dry camping at the fairgrounds.  WiFi and lots of running water to shower with helped make this decision for us.

Coming an extra day or two early to geocache (as was previously suggested) is not an option for us and quite frankly, we didn't get a real warm and fuzzy feeling from the posts concerning the geocache "issue" in the first place Smiley.  Perhaps in a future Jamboree a ride could be developed to include this activity (thinking outside of the box here).

We're looking forward to the breakfasts, rides, camaraderie, merchandise sponsors and since this will be our second time around not feeling so much of an "outsider"  Smiley.

We received a personal e-mail from Dave Adams, Chairman of the Jamboree (and yes, we did get a warm and fuzzy feeling from this).  He took the time to fully explain the hurdles and restrictions placed on the committee by the BLM in developing the rides for the 3 day event.  He also was gracious in clarifying that geocaching has been discussed and may, sometime in the future, be included in the event.

Thank you Dave for taking time away from your hectic schedule to get in touch with us.  We look forward to meeting up with you at the Jamboree  Smiley Smiley Smiley.

I wonder if you had it a couple of weeks later if you would have a better turn out.  We have been going to St George and area about every other year but not usually until around the 20th of March.  A little better weather usually by then and the passes from northern Idaho are better also.

Unfortunately there are some serious restriction on the trails shortly after the current date for the Jamboree due to the Desert Tortoise and it's hatch-lings.

Those of you that are comming to the Jamboree from the north
you can get that same squeeky cheese from the cheese factory in Beaver.
Those of you already down here in the south you can get that same squeeky cheese at Lin's in St George.

For those of you that just come to ride there are no restictions put on any trails.

The restictions are put on the jam because it is put on under a permit. If on permit was needed it would not have restictions ether.

As I understood it the restrictions were more to do with organized events and large parties of users not on individuals and only on a few select areas which would interfere with the Jamboree and thus the current date of the Jamboree.

I 'm a bit fuzzy though on the exact details so I'd highly suggest you call the BLM and ask about the specific area your interested in exploring.
