Several weeks ago I rode to Swansea (south of Havasu) which was a copper mining town in the early 1900's. �There are still some ruins there and some interesting history. �

camorhino Senior Member Offline Posts: 179	Re: Swansea Townsite Reply #17 - 08/03/12 at 00:25:24 Be sure and ride on over to Alamo Lake from that water crossing and have a green chili burger at the Wayside Inn! Worth the trip, and you can loop it back on the powerline road to the south and get back to the Swansea cut-off. They have gas at Wayside $$$, all run on a generator.

Hey Frank been to Swansea many times, live about 30 miles from there and we come in from Bouse, many great trails around that area, can also drive in from Parker on Shea road. Have you tried the Kofa Wildlife area? we trailer to the Vicksburg Rd. exit on I 10 its a 15 mile ride for us from Brenda Az. and park on the n/e side of the exit in a big truck parking lot and about 6 miles down the dirt road you enter the Kofa area and there is a kiosk with maps setting out and info, its a beautiful area and some nice trails

David, thanks for your post on Swansea. I use to access that near Bill Willams River and go through Mineral Wash to get to Swansea. It was a fun ride with a bunch of water crossings on the way. That has been close now for a number of years and it is too bad. I now stage at Bouse when I ride to Swansea. I have been considering the Shea road access and may try that this fall. Have you crossed the Bill Wiams river east of Swansea Townsite? There is some good riding on the other side of the river also.

I have not tried the Kofa Wildlife area but it sounds interesting. I may check it out this fall/winter. Thanks for the tip.
