ITP tires service
06/08/12 at 22:53:03

Hi all
This is a "good" report
We purchased 2 sets of ITP Baja cross tires, one set from Rocky Mtn & one set locally. We headed to Utah and on the 1st day of riding my wife complained of a shimmy, at first I told her it was just the trail but after riding it I found a bad shimmy from 20MPH up. Took the tires to the tire shop in Fillmore to check them out & found they would take over a pound of weight each to balance. (never had to balance an ATV tire before)
I called ITP direct and they asked for the branding # on the tires, sent me out 2 new ones right away,, no questions asked,,no receipt needed,,didnt even request the old ones back.
Great service!
We still like & run Bighorns but wanted to try the Baja Cross, they steer better & hold better in the turns on loose surfaces, the rears are a bit wider than the same size Bighorns.
great tires so far.

I want some Big Horns! Actually I'm leaning more toward the clones. I'm thinking about getting the Duro Power Grips (radial) or the Tusk Trilobytes (bias ply). I'm leaning more towards the Duros though so I also use the four wheeler as a plow and radials are better on the road anyways. So what I need from everyone are opinions. I think the Duros were only $40 or so more for the set. I ride mostly in the norther desert but have tried a couple of trails around here. Ant Flats and Farmington Canyon. I'm 80% sure on the radials but I would like as many opinions as I can get. I've read reviews where the Duros were better than tusk at plowing.

Radials. Big Horns. 'Nuff Said'.

..just my opinion, however.

Big Horns.  9000 miles on them, all in Utah, rocks sand, you name it and still just under 50% tread left on them.

I've got the Duro's and if I had to do it again I'd go with the Big Horns.  The Power Kings are good but I have a hard time keeping them in balance. I've got 4k miles on them now and still have about half the tread left and may look at replacing them before they are worn out.  They will work but there are better.

This last time around I put on a set of those Sedona Ripsaws...more to please my mechanic buddies because I have been a Bighorn driver for a number of years now.  The dealer said they were as good as the Bighorns...nope.  I do not think I will buy another set.  These seem to ride OK but they drive me nuts!  More than I am already  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

The problem started as soon as I put them on and I have about a 1,000 miles on them now.  We were on a larger rock gravel road last weekend.  It was like I was driving a popcorn popper.  I think the tread is too close because rocks are evidently sticking in the tread and being flung at the underside of my plastic...BAD!  They throw rocks out the back and occationally forward.

I have had other riders also comment they can hear the rocks striking the underside of my ATV and they also said I throw rocks out the back.

Duro tires come stock on Arctic Cat Wildcat side by sides.  They hold the prize for all time most weak sidewalled tires I've ever owned.  Pretty much gauranteed a flat each and every ride.

Bill Walke had a brand new set of Duro PowerGrips on for Big Ride 7 and may have set a record for the most plugs in a new set of tires.  Rolling on floor laughing

Its a good thing SaRrider was riding behind me Sat then Grin

It was interesting on Big Ride 7 that nobody else had tire problems...except Bill.  And he took out three of his four tires and of those three most had multiple sidewall holes.

I want to thank Bill for appeasing the Tire Ripper Gods and protecting the rest of us.  It made for an easy ride for the rest of us. Rolling on floor laughing Rolling on floor laughing Rolling on floor laughing

You are welcome Chris, for you I would even throw myself in front of a bus.

Stay away from Big Horn clones, espically Duro. If you don't believe me, ask Wild Bill or SARider.

Thanks,

So it only happened on one trail? On a UTV? How long have you had the tires?

Thanks!

Bills right . I do run them , and I have my reasons . Grin

I blew out too many Big Horn sidewalls on too many  fairly new Bighorns . So what do you do with a set of tires that are worn 2/3 rds of the way  when one is unrepairable ? You buy a new set of course .  Wink

I got tired of tires stacked  around the shop and then digging to try and find mates for them . The Trilobites have done a good job and are reasonably priced . They look just like Bighorns and  handle well . I have ruined a couple of sidewalls with them but they have a new , thicker sidewall tire that I will try next .

I am surprized at the 2 ply stock tires on my 570 RZR Did fix it pass, behind the reef and that M something road in the swell this year. As well as some very rocky trails here at home. They are bout 50% and look pretty tough at 2800 miles. Going to try, to get another season out of them.
I have shyed away from the "freddys"!! That must help, I thinkCheesy

I know, but I'm very stubborn. I was dead set on Big Horns a long time ago and it's hard for me to think about getting a bias ply tire en reviews say they tend to wobble at high speed and don't do well when plowing.
