Be glad to help you out. There are a few places nearby to ride, Timber Mtn/Johns Peak is 20 min from Medford.  Another really great riding area is the Prospect trail system, it is about an hour North of Medford and has a lot of nice trail , it is not open till July 1st though due to snow pack.  You can ride from Prospect to Union Creek for some great Huckleberry pie at Becky's cafe and to see the Rouge river gorge falls. Multimedia file viewing and clickable links are available for registered members only!!  You need to Login or Register!!

I will see if I can find the GPS tracks,  If you PM me your address I can send some maps now. Also if you come through Bend and have a day we have some trails here too.

There are some areas closed, this area has been under fire due to adjacent land owners concerns for some time. Most of it is open and it is a mingle of BLM lands and lands owned by the Motorcycle riders assn. (MRA)

click on the map and you can zoom in. As you get closer to the time you will be here I can call down there for you and see what the status is. I serve on the state advisory / funding committee and work with those folks in funding their grants.

Red,
Thanks for the info.. I assume there is plenty of area in that ohv area to make a good day of riding at worst. I am also looking at spending a couple of days on the Prospect Trail System which looks like a good day or two of riding what's your thoughts. Is there any good trails up by you that can give us a day or two of riding I would like to ride with you while we are up in that area if your not in Utah   Smiley.

Timber Mtn is a days worth at best.
2 days at Prospect is good, we have lots of places near us in Bend. The East Fort Rock map I sent you would a a good day or two, The Edison trail is up by Mt Bachelor ski area and is a nice day ride, 20 miles from Bend.
Just let me know what you would like to do & when.  Smiley

Sounds like I will do the Timber area then before I head back to Vegas since its the smaller of the areas and closer too the family.
Are there any areas between you and Prospect we could ride or is everything north of you guys in Bend? My thoughts are to come north and ride with you folks for a couple of days then start working my way south back towards Medford. In regards to riding we are game for anything as long as its within 100 miles  Wink

I was looking at that East Fort Rock Area is that just high desert riding or do you get into the trees at all and what's your feeling about that area ? Thanks for the Rider Planet link that's a nice site.
As of right now we are shooting for the month of July is that too hot there to ride and what are the trail conditions like during that time?

I've ridden and camped in Oregon during the summer month(s), and it's not too bad if you have tree cover. The humidity was something I wasn't used to, and there's not much elevation, at least compared to Utah.

Beautiful tree covered country, though - depending on where you finally decide to go.
