Which GPS works best on RZR

Looking to buy a good GPS unit that shows the trails and can be seen in bright sunlight that you can mount on a RZR.

I have looked at the 600,650, and 650t I don't need the camera, can you download the maps and save money? I ride northern utah and Idaho in the summer months and southern utah Az. and Nevada in the winter. Is there downloadable maps for these 4 states or do you have to buy each state

You'd end buying the Garmin Topo map any way.   This is for the whole U.S.  Just buy the one with the topo already installed.  You could go here Multimedia file viewing and clickable links are available for registered members only!!  You need to Login or Register!!
.  I'm not sure if the topo maps here are as good.

Don't own a Razr, but do own a Montana with the powered cradle.  The best GPSr on the market IMHO.  Subscribe to Birdseye imagery and download aerial photography to display on your screen as you travel.

I have to agree with the garmin Montana, the 600 works great, if you use a powered mount, I have the garmin tuff mount hardwired into my grizzly, you can have full back light all the time, big enough screen that I can see it while I'm riding (great help when geocacheing)
don't waste money on maps as stated above gpsfiledepot.com is a good source for free maps.

As others have said the Montana is the best handheld GPS when it comes to size and screen quality, I have one.
But since you mentioned a RZR I suggest you consider an Android Tablet, that is what I and all of my riding buddies use in our SxS's.

The links at the bottom will take you to instructions and map download files for BackCountry Navigator and OruxMaps Apps.  They both include the files to install the maps that I make onto them (Moab, Paiute, Taylor Park, and WV)
I and several friends use an 8" Pantech 4100 tablet that works great.  We pay between $80 and $100 for them.  Go to the RZR Forum and look under the GPS section and there is a ton of info.  You can download/cache various maps for use without cell service.
With a Garmin GPS you will only use it in your RZR, with a Tablet I use it all the time, check email at home etc.  We do not get a monthly plan, we just use them at home with WiFi.  Another advantage of a tablet is you can put your Manual, ECU codes, etc on it.  There is a free App (Avenza) that uses geo-spatial referenced maps that are great.  All of the Forest Service ones are free.
I like my Montana but never use it anymore, and Tablets are a lot cheaper.

Ok so what are you guys using to weatherproof the tablet?
Dust is a killer if it gets into those screens.

Most of the guys I ride with bought 8" Pantech Element 4100's off of ebay or on the net.  They are discontinued and we get either refurbs or new for $60-$100.  They will say refurb but most are new in box.
They are supposedly waterproof and all we do is put screen protectors on them.  Some guys put elec tape over the openings.
Those with Nexus 7 and others usually get a "Lifeproof" case or an "Otterbox"

So folks have been using the tablets for gps for some time now.  How are they holding up in the dust and rain?  I'm looking at going that route for half the price of a Montana, but only if it will hold up to the elements/vibrations.  Thanks.

RAM makes a tablet mount suitable for carrying a tablet in an Otter Box protective case. I use the Otter Box cases for my tablet(s).

For those of you using Tablets, what application are you using to create or follow GPSr tracks?

I've been a long time customer of BackCountry Navigator.

I have an extra Android Tablet and an extra iPad Mini that aren't doing anything.  Curious to know what app you're using.

So, I just bought and mounted up a RAM TAB-TITE Mount for either iPad mini or Android Tablet (~7inch). I then got a decent hard case for the tablet. I'll be trying this out on my next ride.

The only catch I've found thus far is that all applications that allow GPS track import require you convert .GDB to GPX. We'll see how that goes next ride. Sadly, weather is looking grim for this coming weekend. If not snowing, and just snow on the ground, I'll be riding the Eureka area yet again.

Where did you get the mounts?  I was just about to order some today online but thought maybe I could find them around town first.  My Note 8.0 should be here by the weekend and I would also like to try it out on the next ride!

Thanks Jim.  I actually ordered the Ram Tab Lock off Amazon a couple days ago but then cancelled it because I couldn't see how it would do any good to have the tablet locked into the mount if a thief could just twist the adjustment knob on the arm section and pull the balls out of the ends.  Do you know if that is correct?  I've never played around with the Ram mounting stuff.

True, not hard to remove anything off a RAM Mount. That being said, I keep my SPOT and generally a GPSr on the handlebar and have yet to have them stolen.

Most items in a RAM mount can be removed easily if you're going to be away from the ATV for a bit.

It worked rather well I have to say Kick !!! I am thinking of getting a hard case for my phone(Note 4) along with another Ram Mount and try it installed on my bars might be even better with that type of application rather than pulling it out of my pocket every so often lol !!!

I have the RAM Mount with 1" ball and a LifeProof case for both iPad Mini and Dell Venue 7 (Android). Now, its going to be a decision on which application allows importing of Garmin tracks, creating tracks and offline download and use of TOPO and Maps.

I'm thinking Back Country will win, but we shall see.

I also see that this site offers the atvutah trail map for the whole state, but the description says you have to have Nat Geo Topo to make it work.  I looked for it on Ebay and there were only two available for Utah, and they were over $80!  I wonder if it's worth it......?

National Geographic Topo! Originally sold for $99.95 per state. Its still my favorite tool and rumor is it may be coming back in a new and highly improved version. But I'll reserve judgment until I can use it. The last two products they released to replace Topo sucked and I refused to sell them or even give away a bunch of promo copies they gave me to distribute because they were so bad.

The CD I sell was originally just for use with Topo but now can be used with almost any GPS software. And I include on the CD a copy of the "good" version of GPS Babel to convert to just about any GPS format you could possibly need if that format type is not already on the CD.

So I got BC Navigator downloaded and have been tinkering with it, but I am getting confused on how you load track logs to it.  I have found the Every Trail site, but there aren't a lot of track logs there.  Some other sites have more, but put them in file formats apparently not supported by android? How do you convert and install?  Is there a better place to find tracks?
Also, would Utah topo and the atvutah disk sold here work in random with BC nav or would it pretty much replace the need for BC nav?
Sorry for all the questions but this is getting confusing....
