Beware of Rotopax
07/08/16 at 17:02:11

Just a heads up.  I purchased 4 of the 2 gallon Rotopax fuel packs a few years ago.   2 of them split at the seams in the last 2 weeks.  Glad I didn't have them on my RZR or I'd be a crispy critter right now.  I still have 2 of the original Koplins  from at least 10 years ago still holding up.

I have had the same thing happen twice now. They honored the warranty ONCE, but only after I really complained and now after the 2nd time, no response.

The first time one of my 2gal's split, I was up at the Boy Scout High Adventure camp above Beaver and the fuel spray was crazy and everywhere. I thought for sure, my machine would light afire.

Hole appeared literally in the thickest part of the plastic where the 2gal cans interconnect.

Reference my thread from 2014 (two threads down) on this same subject:

After I posted, I saw your post.  I felt really comfortable carrying those in my RZR vs other options.  Looking at NATO Jerry cans now.

Well I've never had a leak with any of my Rotopax, but on the last two rides, my lockable t handle has been a @#*$% to unlock. I've always been really careful with it too. I've always put a piece of electrical tape over it to keep out the dust and water.  Angry

I had a problem with one of my Rotopax 2 gal units a few years ago, it developed a split on one of the seams and was shooting a small stream a gas several feet.  Contacted Rotopax and was simply told ?&%$* happens.  You would think that for what they are charging for those things now you would get some kind of satisfaction from Rotocrap!  [ Smiley

I had my handle lock freeze up completely! I had to remove the universal plate to remove the pak.  I no longer use them.  I am happy it did not happen 100 miles out on the trail.
