Fwiw, Bighorns mounted on a 43 hp atv will NOT make it up the Sand Hill on the Barracks trail in southern Utah.  In fact, they won't even make it quite half way. Sad
I know because I tried it Saturday. Wink

But.....
Viprs and Black Diamonds will! Wink Cool

On that note, the tires I bought earlier this year, thinking they were a good deal and super "luggy" will not make it up the last steep climb up Silverado Canyon (just South of Ophir). Not sure what these tires were meant for, but not sand snow, rock, hard pack, etc. They suck in everything, Avoid these RipSaw R/T's. I was Dup'd. I'm going back to the Maxxis Vipr's..

The VIPR's seemed to always be sliced liked ham, but never had an issue and would plow through anything. These RipSaw R/T's just suck at everything..

I was interested in the Ripsaws too. They look cool. But when Sedona told me they were not rated well for sand, and I saw the specs on the weights, I passed.

I have noticed that the Viprs do get what looks like razor blade slices. I'm not sure why. I haven't lost any chunks of tread or had air loss though. And they pull like mad through  the snow and sand. Went right to the top of that hill throwing sand roosts with them. Shocked Cool

I took your advice K.S. and bought a set of Viprs before I came out your way this past summer.  Swapped the Bighorns for these.  Night and day difference.  2 weeks ago my wife and I went to northern Wisconsin to play in the mud.  In the past I would have never have thought of putting on anything but my mud tires.  Never had to winch out with the Viprs.

I wish more people would jump ship from Bighorns. I get so tired of seeing their imprints everywhere. And we need the sales of Viprs to increase so Maxxis makes more sizes available.

I had forgotten how expensive these VIPR's are.. $152/each at RMATV. I got tires for my Audi cheaper than that!  Roll Eyes

Where's everyone sourcing their ATV tires of late?

RMATV.  Once in great while I'll catch a glimpse of a tire cheaper somewhere else, but less than $10.  For that extra few $, the customer service at RMATV is worth it for me.

I used to buy about everything at RMATV, but their prices aren't so competitive anymore.  I bought my last ATV tire at 2wheel.com.  They were much cheaper than RMATV for the tire I needed, had free shipping, and they pay the sales tax.

Good thing about RMATV is that they will match prices on tires. I found the Viprs at a better price at a small shop in Enoch of all places, and RMATV matched their price. Plus, I got over $500 in bonus bucks from them which paid for my oil filters and air filter cleaner this whole year. Wink
