I don't know how yours is set up, but I would re-check all of your connections while the lights are "on". Wiggle every imaginable place there is a connection. I have some aftermarket utility lights installed on my machine that worked great at first... then started giving me a lot of grief. After a lot of tinkering and frustration and a new on/off switch later, the problem was finally pinned down to a faulty snap together plug connection at the relay. We found this while out on a night ride and decided to "see what's up one more time..." when we stopped for a break.
Good luck, I know how frustrating something like this can be.
