Arapeen Reeder Canyon in the fall

Had to go get some tools down at my cabin last week and got to sneak a ride in while I was there.  If there is a better backyard ride on the Arapeen, I don't know where it is!

Great video K.S.  I tried to get over to the Reeders loop this year from Ferron,  but got stopped by snow every time.   Next year, I'll load up and drive over to the the west side.

Today BruteForce and myself rode from my cabin through Reeder's north side then down Black Dragon to Ferron with the intent of topping off our tanks for a ride out into the Swell. Found out there is no longer gas sold in Ferron. So we rode out as far as we dared with the gas we had, made it just shy of the Devils race track before we turned around. We returned up Dragon then came up Reeder's South side then wanting one more 50" trail before I got back to the cabin, we took the trail from Spring City canyon that comes into the top of the Rancheros. Was a great day for a ride, 170 miles.

Long story but Kickstart is right Reeder's is great this time of year!

That trail started out as a dirt bike trail about 30 years ago, then we got approval from the board about 20 years ago to widen it.  Then the FS came along one day and signed it!  So I guess it's official now. Grin

It's a hidden gem of trail with how that clump of trees hides it from the road.

Yes. I'm surprised you know about it. There are folks down there that have been down there for decades who don't know it exists.

I actually found it from the Ranchero side. I was headed up to hunt deer in the aspens and meadows above the Rancheros.

About half-way up that trail, I thought for you that you made a turn somewhere because you were no-where to be seen.  That was some super narrow 2-track to be sure. With the wind howling as it was, the pink leaves falling looked like pink snow!  Rolling on floor laughing

There used to be a guy who had a cabin where it tops out, and he would meet anyone coming up the trail with a dog and an old single action revolver. His nickname was "Spook". He was a Vietnam vet with severe ptsd, and he literally turned into a hermit in a cabin. He wouldn't leave his cabin at all. The neighbor down the road from him brought him groceries and mail. I went down that trail so much that he eventually got comfortable with me enough to show me what he grew in his greenhouse.......and it wasn't tomatoes!!!!! Wink Cheesy Grin

Great video.  Thanks for posting.  We took Trail 5 down from Skyline back in Sept during our ride out of Clawson up Rock Canyon.
