Portable Generator Pricing
12/27/18 at 15:04:25

I've spent quite a bit of time looking for portable generators since I bought my pickup truck camper earlier this year. I spent a whole day checking pricing at several RV stores, sport outfitters, and motorsports dealerships. The standard price of the 2000 watt portable Honda or Yamaha generators was $1000 each. And to run an air conditioning unit in an RV you needed two of them. With the Yamaha generator you needed the kit to connect them together, which could cost up to $250. So, about $2250 for a pair of generators.  With the Honda generators you need a base generator for $1000 and the add on generator for $1100, because it includes the kit to connect them together, and has the 30 amp plug you need for your camper.

Well, ... Costco has the Yamaha generators on sale right now for $549 each, and they include the necessary cables to connect them together. That makes for a savings of $1250 over what the RV places are charging for the exact same generators.
