Elk Hunt!

This weekend, the Elk Hunt (Depredation tags) starts again! I have until the end of January to harvest 2x Elk and 2x Deer. Literally this morning, an entire herd of deer to include (oddly enough) two very large bucks walked right through my front yard in South Jordan!

I stopped deer hunting roughly 5 years ago.  Not that I don't love hunting, I do.  But it's not sporting anymore.   I have nice size bucks that walk on the deck every day.  The does let the fawns play with my hound dog.  I can go.outside, make as much noise as I want and they just keep eating.  I still get my fill of venison.  I let my nephews hunt our land and they cut up steaks for me.  So now I stick to squirrel and bunny hunting.

I only hunt for meat. I don't hunt for sport or antlers. I bring friends to help fill their freezers, so its not just about me.

I agree,  the meat is lean and healthy.  Wish I could get my wife to enjoy it.
