I know this is an ongoing topic with the ATVs and Side by Sides but its getting to the point where the Trails are too narrow for some of these units and its starting to become dangerous because of these units are going at an unsafe speed. We need to start looking into more gates on some of these trails even if they are 60" wide because as you see in the video they are way beyond 60".
Anyways look at the ending where a PoPo rolled over into the bushes by going too fast. soap box

And this is precisely why I don't ride I-70 toward Big John Flat after 9am, if possible, on ATV (non-SxS) or Jeep. By my latest estimate, only 30% of OHV riders know trail etiquette these days. New SxS owners think that drinking + driving on trails is just fine. Even better because they can toss their empty cans and cig butts out the "door, as evidenced by the massive amount of cans littering our trails of late.

Last time I was on ATV on the PST74, I had to winch 10' up the hill to allow a gaggle of 72" SxS's to pass because they had no clue what to do..

I've said it before, will say it again. ALL OHV owners must pass a trail etiquette and training course before being allowed to hit the trails!

Even when I'm in my Jeep, I give the "NOBODY BEHIND ME SIGN" and I get maybe 10% ACK of understanding..

Trail etiquette says the person going uphill   has the right away.  So many times others dont know or don't care.

Just saw your post Jim.  My kids learned hand signals before they got on their first ATV's.  My wife and I complain about this all the time.

Nice video.  A couple of thoughts after watching it ...

I try to avoid riding anywhere around Marysvale if I can.  There is just too much traffic anymore.

I never have really understood the reason the person riding uphill has the right away.  I suppose if there is room to pull over the person riding downhill should pull over.  But if there is no room to pull over, and someone has to back up, it is easier for the person riding uphill to back  up than it is for the person riding downhill.  This is especially the case with two wheel drive ATVs, which may not even be able to back up on a steep dowhill.

The hand signals are nice most of the time, and appreciated.  I usually return a hand signal, but sometimes I just wave like a fool.  The hand signals can sometimes get a little over the top though.  On my last ride on the 01 trail south of Big John's Flat, I pulled my little 50" wide UTV over to the side of the trail as a group of 10 ATVs approached me from the other direction.  I could see all 10 of them, lined up in a row.  The leader let go of both handlebars and held up 9 fingers.  Then the next person did the same thing and held up 8 fingers.  Then the next one held up 7.  And so on, until the last person in line held up his closed fist, indicating no one was behind him.  Every single one of them gave me a hand signal.  At least they all knew their position in line.
